Any sincere student interested in the art and science of Yoga will benefit from this in-depth training. The course is available to those who wish to become Hatha Yoga Teachers, and is equally suitable for students who would like to refine and deepen their personal practice and philosophical, experiential and technical understanding, or are already engaged in teaching and wish to sophisticate their insight and application of Yoga. The curriculum will include:
Basic principles. Technical skills. Yoga therapeutics. Prevention of injuries. Yogic internal cleansing methods, fasting. Diet and nutrition. Holistic health.
Introduction into the different Yoga systems, including Raja Yoga and Vedanta. Mind, Kundalini, Nadis and Chakras. Prana and Consciousness. Meditation. We will meet on Saturdays, February 1 - May 24, 2014 from 1:45pm to 5:00pm. All participants will receive a comprehensive manual for the course and will be required to read several text books throughout the training. This also includes 2 optional classes per week (at no extra charge) with Suddha at the Chicago Yoga Center. *Participants who have taken the course at a former time may join for $440. (This does not include the yoga-meditation retreat and the optional classes.) The Chicago Yoga Center Teacher Training is registered with the Yoga Alliance and our program meets the National Educational Standards. After successful completion students will receive a certificate and may apply 120 credit hours for registry with the Yoga Alliance. Students may go on to join Teacher Training Level 2, (August - November 2014) and may attend the Paulie Zink weekend (April 5 - 6, 2014), or the Rama Jyoti Vernon weekend (April 25 - 27, 2014). Students will benefit from a chronological gap between courses to digest and apply theory to practice. Time is allowed in between courses to have students refreshed, ready, and eager for the continuation. Level 1 and Level 2 courses can be taken as two separate units, or they may be completed within the same year.
Graduating students of Level 1, Level 2, and the Paulie Zink or Rama Vernon weekend will receive a certificate from the Chicago Yoga Center, and if so desired may apply with the Yoga Alliance for the 200-hour registry.
