Yoga with Richard Freeman
|
|
Yoga is freedom. It is pure, radiant, unobstructed joy. It is awareness, wide-awake and clear. Yoga practice itself is a simple collection of techniques for observing what is in the present moment. Based on connections between patterns of thought, the emotions, breathing, posture and general physiology of the body, yoga practice produces remarkable strength, flexibility, and clearness of mind. |

This workshop will be a step-by-step exploration of the basis of form,
breathing,
alignment and movement that underlie the postures of Ashtanga Yoga.
Richard Freeman has been a student of yoga since 1968. He has spent nearly nine years in Asia studying various traditions which he incorporates into the Ashtanga yoga practice taught by his principle teacher, K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. His background includes Zen and Vipassana Buddhist practice, Bhakti and traditional Hatha Yoga in India, Sufism in Iran and, starting in 1974, an in-depth study of Iyengar yoga. He is still an avid student of both Western and Eastern philosophy, as well as Sanskrit. His ability to juxtapose various viewpoints, without losing the depth and integrity of each, has helped Richard develop a unique, metaphorical teaching style.
The workshop will be suitable for students of all levels! The cost of the workshop is $170.
