Vinyasa Krama Yoga is an ancient practice of physical and spiritual development. It is a systematic method of study, practice, teach and adapt yoga. The legendary Sri Krishnamacharya, Sri Srivatsa Ramaswami's Guru for three decades brought this comprehensive method of yogasana practice back to use and prominence. By integrating the functions of the mind, body and breath, in the same time frame, a practitioner can experience the real joy of yoga practice. Each of the important postures (asanas) is practiced with many vinyasas (variations and movements). Each aesthetic variation is linked to the next one by and the next by a succession of specific transitional movements, synchronized with the breath. The mind intimately follows the slow, smooth, deliberate Ujjayi yogic breathing and the yoking of the mind and body takes place with the breath acting as the harness.

During the course of the program about 500 vinyasas contained in ten classical sequences will be taught. Further, important yogic breathing exercises will be explored in depth. An introduction to yoga philosophy, key chants and important aspects of meditation will also be presented. Teachers of all schools, especially of the yoga lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya can add considerably to their yoga base.

Sri Srivatsa Ramaswami (73) was the longest standing student of the legendary T. Krishnamacharya outside the Master's immediate family. He has written four books, 1. Basic Tenets of Patanjala Yoga (1982) 2. Yoga for the Three Stages of Life (2000, Inner Traditions) 3. The Complete Book of Vinyasa Yoga (2005, Marlowe) 4. Yoga Beneath the Surface (with David Hurwitz, 2006, Marlowe). Also recorded about 40 audio cassettes and CD's in India of various Sanskrit chants like Sun Salutation, Gayatri, Sive Kavacham etc. Has been teaching for more than 25 years in India–Kalakshetra (for 20 years, and recognized as an Institution of National Importance by the Govt. of India), Ramachandra Medical University, Yoga Brotherhood etc. Has taught in USA workshops and Teacher Training programs at Esalen Institute, Loyola Marymount University, Yoga Works, Himalayan Institute, Chicago Yoga Center, Yogayoga and several others.

Upon completion of the courses students will receive credit for the Yoga Alliance registration and a certificate of completion.
